Refund & Cancellation Policy

This policy explains how and when MootMind processes refunds and cancellations for its paid subscription plans and pay-per-use purchases. We've kept the rules simple and predictable.

1. Cancellation

You can cancel a paid subscription at any time from your account settings or by emailing jatinsharma190107@gmail.com. After cancellation:

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period — you keep the paid features until then
  • The subscription will not renew at the next billing date
  • Your account automatically reverts to the Free plan when the paid period ends
  • Your data (memorials, project workspaces, judge rounds) is retained per our Privacy Policy

2. Refund for subscriptions

7-day pro-rated refund window

If you cancel within 7 calendar days of your initial subscription purchase (Monthly, 3-Month Moot Block, or Annual), we will issue a pro-rated refund based on the unused portion of the billing period.

Example: you buy the Annual plan on day 1 for ₹21,999 and cancel on day 5. We refund ₹21,999 × (360 ÷ 365) ≈ ₹21,698 (the cost of 5 days deducted). The exact calculation appears in your refund confirmation email.

After 7 days

After the 7-day window, subscription payments are non-refundable. You can still cancel future renewals, but the current paid period will not be refunded.

Renewal refunds

If you forgot to cancel and an automatic renewal charge surprises you, email us within 72 hours of the renewal at jatinsharma190107@gmail.com. We will issue a full refund of the renewal charge as a goodwill gesture, as long as you have not used any paid features in those 72 hours.

3. Refund for pay-per-use purchases

Pay-per-use overage purchases (additional AI memorials, AI Tutor sessions, AI Judge rounds, and Ask MootMind queries beyond your plan's monthly limit) are non-refundable once delivered. The unit is considered delivered the moment the corresponding AI output is generated and returned to you.

If a pay-per-use charge succeeded but no output was delivered to you (technical failure on our side), we will either retry the operation at no extra cost or refund the charge in full. Email jatinsharma190107@gmail.com with the transaction ID and we'll resolve it within 24 hours.

4. How refunds are processed

Approved refunds are issued through Razorpay back to the original payment method:

  • Credit / debit card — credited back within 5–10 business days, depending on your card issuer
  • UPI — credited back within 3–5 business days
  • Net banking — credited back within 5–7 business days
  • Wallets — credited back within 3–5 business days

We cannot refund to a different account or payment method than the one originally used. If your card has expired or been replaced, please contact your bank — they handle the rerouting.

5. How to request a refund

Email jatinsharma190107@gmail.com with:

  • The email address registered on your MootMind account
  • The Razorpay transaction ID (in your purchase confirmation email)
  • The reason for the refund (optional, but helpful for us to improve)

We'll confirm within 24 hours and, if approved, initiate the refund the same day.

6. Exceptions

We may decline a refund request if:

  • The request is outside the 7-day window for subscription refunds
  • The pay-per-use unit has already been delivered (output generated)
  • We have reason to believe the account has been used in violation of our Terms of Service (account abuse, sharing, fraud)
  • You have requested and received refunds repeatedly without continued use of the Services

7. Disputes

If you disagree with a refund decision, reply to the refund email and we'll review again with a fresh pair of eyes within 24 hours. We'd much rather resolve things directly than have you raise a chargeback with your bank.
